GSI/GSR Positions

If you are interested in applying for a teaching position in the Architecture department, complete an application for EACH course for which you would like to be considered for the next regular semester only. Applications are available online and can be downloaded here: GSI/Reader Application Form. Current GSIs must reapply to be considered. Submit applications to 232 Wurster Hall by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 for Fall 2008 appointments. Information on GSI/Reader positions in other departments at CED may be found at DCRP Student Employment and LAEP Student Employment.

The number of positions and percentage could change due to budget restrictions and course enrollment.

All discussion sections will have predetermined times and locations. Please check the Online Schedule of Classes to confirm that you can teach the sections when they are offered. Section schedules will not be changed.

Notes

* The GSI at 25% in ARCH 100A/B, ARCH 200A/B, and ENV DES 11A/B will support the teaching of the computer module in each of these courses. If interested in providing computing support, please describe your applicable computer expertise as supporting material.

The primary focus of the ENV DES 11A course is freehand drawing. Please submit ten or so examples of your work in freehand drawing (e.g., still life, the figure, landscape, city scenes, building studies, etc.). A solid background in this area is crucial to teaching the course effectively. The submittal must be in photocopy format, 8-1/2 x 11 inches, stapled together. These photocopy sets will not be returned.

ARCH 140 (taught spring semester) has an earlier application deadline, usually Monday of the fourth week of the fall semester. Selected GSIs must take a one-unit, five-week Teaching Methods seminar in the fall to discuss pedagogical strategies, plans for course improvements, and development of homework and lab exercises. The schedule of this seminar will be determined once the GSIs are selected and will be based on the group's availability.
