Understanding the need for professionals with the knowledge and skills of more than one discipline within the field of environmental design, the Department of Architecture offers the following joint degree programs with other departments and programs at UC Berkeley:

• Concurrent program with City and Regional Planning leading to the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) and Master of City Planning (M.C.P.) degrees
   
• Concurrent program in Building and Site Design leading to the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) and Master of Landscape Architecture (M.L.A.) degrees
   
• Concurrent program with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Division of Structural Engineering, Mechanics, and Materials leading to the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees
   
• Concurrent program in International and Area Studies leading to the Master of Arts (M.A.) and either the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.), Master of Science in Architecture (M.S.), or Ph.D. in Architecture degrees
   

Another program of interest to architecture graduate students is the Designated Emphasis (DE) in New Media. The program is currently offered only to Ph.D. students but is expected to be made available to M.Arch. and M.S. students in the future. The DE in New Media comprises a set of courses with content in the history, theory and practice of computationally-based representation, and communication and interpretation of information.
