Minor Ecological Design Print

Ecological design implies making decisions affecting buildings, land use, settlement patterns, and urban support systems to sustain the capacity of natural systems to support human habitation and culture. Ecology can serve as a framework for good design, and design based on ecological principles can avoid the harmful effects of current approaches and technology.

The minor in Ecological Design is jointly offered by the Department of Architecture and the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. The minor is open to all majors at UC Berkeley.
