The Department of Architecture offers students a number of opportunities for travel. For further information about any of these options, contact the Graduate Office at 370 Wurster Hall. Scholarships and Fellowships The annual Branner Traveling Fellowship is open to Master of Architecture students for nine months of travel. Offered annually, the Judith Lee Stronach Undergraduate Travel Scholarships allow students majoring in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban studies the opportunity to undertake self-directed travel around the world. Spring Studios In the ARCH 200B studio, offered spring semester to graduate students in the three-year Master of Architecture program, students travel during spring break to various destinations chosen by studio faculty. Students study architecture in locations as diverse as Portugal, Athens, Italy, Amsterdam, Paris, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Consult the ARCH 200B course description for details about travel options. Other studio and seminar classes include travel as part of the curriculum at the discretion of faculty. Destinations have included Japan, Peru, China, Italy, locations in California, and elsewhere in the United States. Summer Programs Each summer, the department sponsors the DIS Denmark Architectural Design and Furniture Design Program, a seven-week residential studio program affiliated with the Danish International Studies program in Copenhagen, Denmark. The program is open to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate architecture students. See the Denmark Summer Study webpage for more information. UC Berkeley Study Abroad Students interested in studying outside the country may also contact Berkeley Programs for Study Abroad, the campus resource center for the University of California Education Abroad Program. |
