Architecture Visual Resources Library:
Gifts of Images to the Architecture Visual Resources Library

The Architecture Visual Resources Library welcomes your consideration of gifts, both monetary and in kind. The Visual Resources Library's rich and diverse holdings, including its special collections, rely substantially upon donations of unique, high-quality slide and photographic collections. Funds to support the documentation and preservation of unique collections are an important component of any gift, as they ensure proper treatment.

Notable special collections in the Visual Resources Library are:
The Harold Stump World Architecture Slide Collection
The Joseph Esherick Slide Collection
• The Howard Friedman Slide Collection
• The Hope Gladding Slide Collection
The Raymond Lifchez Slide Collection
• The Herwin Schaefer Slide Collection
• The Denise Scott Brown Slide Collection
• The William Wheaton City Planning Slide Collection

New initiatives in technology, proper housing, care, metadata documentation, subject indexing, and preservation of slides collections are generally dependent upon receipt of supplemental funding.

The donation and receipt of a gift entails generosity and communication on the part of the donor, responsibility and obligation by the institution. Prospective donors are encouraged to discuss proposed gifts with the image librarian before a gift is actually submitted. This preliminary discussion can help ensure a good match between the suitability of the gift and the goals and resources of the Visual Resources Library. For more information on gift giving, please consult the Visual Resources Library's gift policy.
