Undergraduate Minors Minors allow students enrolled in undergraduate programs at UC Berkeley the opportunity for specialization in a particular sub-field of their subject major. CED offers minors in architecture, city planning, ecological design, environmental design in developing countries, history and theory of landscape architecture and environmental planning, history of the built environment, and social and cultural factors in environmental design. Master's Degrees CED offers professional degrees in architecture (the Master of Architecture), landscape architecture (the Master of Landscape Architecture, which includes an environmental planning option), and city and regional planning (the Master of City Planning). In each field the curricula seek to impart a high degree of professional skill, to develop attitudes of responsibility for leadership in society, and to develop a capacity for decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. Joint degree programs are available across departments in the college and with other programs on the UC Berkeley campus. CED also offers a Master of Science in Architecture degree for those wishing to pursue advanced research in the field, a Master of Urban Design degree for exceptionally qualified students who already have professional work experience, and a Master of Arts in Design degree that focuses on selected aspects of visual design. Ph.D. Degrees Doctoral degrees are offered in architecture, city and regional planning, and landscape architecture and environmental planning for those who have the interest and ability to engage in creative research and teaching.
