The Vital Signs Project: 1996 Case Study Competition

Evaluation Criteria

In evaluating the Case Study competition submissions, the jury will seek those submissions which clearly demonstrate:




Evaluation procedure

Prior to judging, each entry will be reviewed and evaluated for eligibility by the Competition Advisor and Vital Signs Project Staff. Those who fail to meet the competition’s procedural rules, eligibility requirements, submission requirements, and mailing requirements will be disqualified. Jury members will conduct independent reviews of Case Study submissions prior to the Jury Session. All entrants and winning teams will be notified by mail, with an announcement sent to the faculty advisors and school administration.



Procedural Rules

Adherence to the eligibility and submission requirements is mandatory. Those entries that do not follow the instructions described in this program may be disqualified from the competition. Jury members and Vital Signs Project Staff should not be contacted and may not serve as faculty advisors in any capacity. All inquiries to the Vital Signs Project Staff should follow the Question and Answer Procedures outlined in this program.

Submission of an entry in this competition shall constitute a general agreement by the participant. The Vital Signs Project and sponsors of the Competition reserve the right to use photographs, drawings, etc. for reproduction, publication, exhibition and marketing purposes. No monetary compensation will be awarded for the use of the entries as described herein. No entries shall be exhibited or published by the entrants (either in hard copy or on the Internet) prior to the release of results of the competition. Participants who publicize their schemes prior to the end of the competition may be disqualified.



Jury

All entries will be judged by a group of nationally recognized architects, consultants, and educators notable for their expertise in buildings and the environment:


The jury will convene in January 1997 at the PG&E Energy Center in San Francisco, CA. First, second, third place, and honorable mention winners will be selected.
