Light Meter Readings

- Here are the results of the light meter readings in the specified areas below.  There had been several comments from the surveys on how the glare from certain areas was very bright. -

Above is the first floor where most of the glare problem exists, in some areas, the light levels are 2 to 3 times higher than are required.

-

Above is the second floor, the office space again receives ample light deep into the space.  On this floor, we noticed that all of the blinds were drawn due to the large amounts of light coming in through the windows,

Above is the third floor, showing the lunch room area.  This area is well shaded by the exterior shading device.  The board rooms on the north, hit the required lighting amounts almost perfectly without the lights on.

In the section above, we took several readings at different levels of the the room, we found good light distribution in the lunch area, it is one of the best lit areas in the building.

In the section above, the offices also receive ample light, in some areas too much. Here again we found the blinds drawn due to too much light.

The lobby area is nicely lit.  The infusion of both natural and artificial light creates a nice ambiance.

In conclusion,  most of the areas studied had ample amounts of lighting.  In almost all areas, the amount of natural lighting alone is adequate for office work.  We found it interesting that the blinds were drawn and the artificial lights were turned on.  The natural lighting may be better utilized if there were some control.
